The Leo Full Moon Wants to See You Show up and Shine!

At 11:33 p.m. on February 8, 2020, the full moon will be at 20°0′ Leo, giving us all a chance to shine!

With the Aquarius sun ruling this lunation, also known as February Snow moon, we’re eager to share our gifts—not to boost our own egos, but to contribute to the greater good as only we can. Center stage or behind the scenes, it doesn’t really matter so long as we’re showing up and playing our part. Read me: 2020 Astrology Calendar: Retrogrades, Full Moons, and More

Still, it feels good to be celebrated now and then. And under the Leo moon, we can be especially sensitive when our contributions go unnoticed and our needs for validation unmet.

If we feel we’re not getting our due, it may be time to take the show on the road and find a more appreciative audience. But before indulging in any diva moments, it’s worth asking: If doing what we love is the real reward, who needs applause anyway?

What does this full moon in Leo mean?

This full moon trines Mars in Sagittarius, emboldening us to explore new horizons of self-discovery and expression. But her quincunx with Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn reminds us of the occasional need to balance authenticity with conformity. Having boundaries and limits to adapt to can help us become better versions of ourselves—but sometimes it’s the system, not us, and that’s what needs adjustment.

As the moon’s sextile with retrograde Juno in Libra reminds us, our primary commitment is to ourselves. If relationships are forcing us to dim our light or make ourselves smaller, it’s probably time to let them go. With Venus now in independent Aries, we dare to set out in search of our heart’s desires.

Perhaps we’ve been made to feel wrong for having these desires. We’ve learned to settle for whatever others more privileged and powerful were willing to give us… even if we knew it was less than we deserved. But with Venus currently conjunct Black Moon Lilith and Chiron, we have a powerful opportunity to heal those wounds and reclaim our self-worth. “Enlightened selfishness” is the key here—after all, we’re still in Aquarius season, where the personal is political. By valuing yourself and honoring your desires, you’re permitting others to do the same. A square between Uranus in Taurus and Ceres in Aquarius challenges us to balance personal satisfaction with the needs of the collective.

As much as this full moon is about celebrating ourselves, it’s also about showing up for one another and making sure we all find our place in the sun. With Mercury in Pisces trine the north node in Cancer, we’re learning to tune in to each other’s physical, emotional, and spiritual needs… while also maintaining healthy, self-honoring boundaries. Finally, we have Jupiter in Capricorn and Neptune in Pisces building up to their first of three sextiles this year (on February 20, just 3 days before the next new moon). This is an opportunity to bring our dreams of the future into reality—but if we want to reap the benefits, we’ll have to put in the work!

Exciting or exhausting? Outgoing or overwhelming? Easy, breezy confidence… or egomania? Leo, it’s all in the eye of the beholder. Still, if you’re not having the desired effect on people, this full moon lets you know—and shows you how to cast yourself in a better light.

Virgo

You’ve got your reasons, Virgo… but they may not be as simple as you think. This full moon uncovers some of the deeper, darker motives behind your virtuous behavior. Having ego needs and desires doesn’t make you a bad person, though—just a complex human being.

Libra

Where do you see this going, Libra? With this full moon in your house of future plans, that’s a natural question to ask. You’re living in the moment and loving the ones you’re with—but if they want different things out of life, eventually you may have to part ways.

Scorpio

Attention seeking isn’t typically your thing, Scorpio—not because you don’t want to be recognized for your achievements, but because your privacy and personal space matter so much more. At this full moon, you’re challenged to increase your visibility, but do it on your own terms.

Sagittarius

What’s the big idea, Sag? At this full moon, light bulbs are turning on over your head—but you may be wondering whether anyone else will share your enthusiasm. Still, if you’re this excited, someone, somewhere else is bound to be too… so don’t keep this amazing discovery all to yourself!

Capricorn

Sharing the wealth is one thing, Capricorn—but when it comes to sharing power, pride can often get in the way. Your need to feel like a strong, competent leader is a valid one, but as this full moon reminds you, sometimes the real strength is in numbers.

Aquarius

What’s with all the drama, Aquarius? You can be quite a character yourself, but the theatrical way others in your life are behaving right now makes no sense. Still, people aren’t always logical—and if they’re not feeling heard, they’ll do whatever it takes to get the message through.

Pisces

We get it, Pisces: You’ve got more pressing concerns than pampering yourself. Still, you can do a lot more good for the world when your body, mind, and spirit are strong—they’re the most valuable resources you have for fighting the good fight! This full moon celebrates both service and self-care.

Aries

It’s in your nature to break away from the pack. But at the end of the day, Aries, you’re still a social animal! This full moon highlights the tension between your desire to play by your own rules, and your very human need for acceptance and belonging.

Taurus

Ever feel like you’re living a double life, Taurus? At this full moon, there’s tension between your public and private lives, but reconnecting with your core inner self can help to heal the split. Who are you when no one is watching? That person’s approval matters most of all.

Gemini

You’ve got the mic, Gemini. But now that you have our attention, what are you going to say? At this full moon in your communication house, you’re advised to use your platform wisely by giving voice to your true values—not just what other people want to hear.

Cancer

What do you really want, Cancer—and what are you willing to accept? At this full moon, you’re asking these questions concerning career, but may not feel satisfied with the answers. If your contributions aren’t getting the respect they deserve, you may want to look for appreciation elsewhere. Art by Rachael Day
