This Full Moon in Aries Is About Exploring the Deepest Wound

On October 1, 2020 (2:05 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time), the full moon will be at 9°08’ of Aries.

Emotions run higher—and hotter—with the full moon in this cardinal fire sign. We’re quicker to react, to lose our patience and sometimes even our tempers. But getting heated isn’t always a bad thing. In unfair or unjust situations, it’s a perfectly appropriate response.

Anger and frustration often show us where we need to take action. Where the status quo has become unacceptable to us, and it’s time to finally do something about it. Righteous anger can energize and inspire courageous, creative acts. But this doesn’t just happen by accident—we must make a conscious choice of how to use our Aries energy.

What Does the October Full Moon in Aries Mean?

That’s especially true with this full moon conjunct retrograde Chiron in Aries. Right now, our old wounds and pain can easily be triggered by the actions, words, or even presence of others. And while it’s important to acknowledge these “negative” emotions, we must try to express them in ways that promote healing instead of harm. Otherwise, we risk repeating the same cycles of suffering.

Fortunately, the sun in Libra is a calming influence in our more hotheaded moments. We’re reminded that our actions don’t just affect us—they impact everyone around us as well. As such, it’s in our own best interest to consider the interests of others.

Of course, there are some situations where compromise is not an option. And with the Libra sun quincunx retrograde Uranus in Taurus, we may surprise each other (and ourselves) with what our “dealbreakers” turn out to be. As nice as it is when everyone’s getting along, sometimes being right is more important than being nice. Make sure, though, that you’re really standing on principle—not just stubbornness.

After all, with lunation ruler Mars currently retrograde in Aries, many of us are frustrated enough with how slowly things are moving. And Mars’ square with Saturn (September 29), still in effect at this full moon, has put additional obstacles in our path. But these aren’t there just to keep us down. There may be a very good reason why we can’t—or shouldn’t—get our way right now.

Saturn, who just stationed direct in Capricorn on September 28, reminds us that good things take time. The instant gratification that Mars prefers isn’t always good for us, and what we feel like doing in the heat of the moment can have long-term consequences. Some rules and regulations really are in place for our own good.

Still, when the status quo has become unworkable, change is inevitable. And as Pluto also goes direct in Capricorn on October 4, it’s just a matter of time before this comes to light. The transformation process may not be unfolding as quickly as we’d like, but we can trust that it’s already underway.
