Solar Eclipse Breakdown and Mini Horoscopes

Destiny is calling your name. Are you ready? In astrology, one of the most powerful tools that the universe can force us to evolve with are eclipses. Prepare: a solar eclipse in Aquarius (28 degrees) arrives on February 17, 2026!

When will the Solar Eclipse take place and where can it be seen?

This eclipse will be an annular solar eclipse. This is also known as a “Ring of Fire” eclipse.

Regions seeing, at least, a partial eclipse include: South in Africa, South in South America, the Pacific, the Atlantic, the Indian Ocean, and Antarctica. The partial eclipse will begin at 1:56 AM (Pacific). The full Eclipse will begin at 3:42 AM (Pacific). The maximum eclipse will occur at 4:12 AM (Pacific). The full eclipse will end at 4:41 AM (Pacific). The partial eclipse will end at 6:27 AM (Pacific). Nearly 2.17% of the world’s population will be able to see any part of this eclipse (around 176,000,000 people).

When are the Leo and Aquarius Eclipses taking place?

This is the first eclipse we are having on the Leo-Aquarius axis since 2017. The upcoming eclipses in Leo-Aquarius will take place from 2026 and 2027. Eclipses repeat at the same degree and zodiac sign on a nineteen-year cycle, so the eclipses that we will be feeling now will echo themes that occurred near 2008 and 2009. The eclipses taking place going forward on this axis will be: Solar eclipse in Aquarius (29 degrees) on February 17, 2026; solar eclipse in Leo (20 degrees) on August 12, 2026; Solar Eclipse in Aquarius (18 degrees) on February 6, 2027; Solar Eclipse in Leo (10 degrees) on August 2, 2027. With all of these eclipses being solar eclipses, this means that dramatic “new beginnings” and karmic events tied to the sense of new destinies will occur.

What are Solar Eclipses energetically?

Solar eclipses are intense—which is why we often pay more attention to them both astronomically and astrologically. These celestial events always take place on a new moon and are somewhat like a new moon on steroids—bringing powerful new opportunities, journeys and experiences into our lives. While most people will hear the news of the solar eclipse on the day of the cosmic event, others may instead notice the shift in the weeks that surround it. No matter what: pay attention to your intuition and the synchronicities that pop up!

What else should we know about the Solar Eclipse in Aquarius?

As this is a solar eclipse in Aquarius (28 degrees), this air sign’s vibes will be electrifying the cosmos! Aquarius is the zodiac sign that rules friendships, communities, volunteering and group activities. It is also an especially optimistic sign, encouraging us to get involved and build a tribe that will support us as we push toward our long-term goals. You will likely be feeling a bit more independent and eager to change up your routine.

When it comes to astrological aspects further coloring this lunation, there are a few notes to make.

First and foremost, the planetary ruler of this lunation is Uranus, the planet of evolution but also chaos. This planet is one of “unexpected energy” and always brings situations, people, and events that no one, not even astrologers or psychics, can fully predict. As the planet of the future, Uranus forces us outside of our comfort zones and often brings shocking twists of fate. This is especially true now, as the solar eclipse will directly square Uranus. This triggers not only immense levels of shocking events in our lives and on the world stage, but in our personal connections, we may find that we or other people are more impulsive, reckless, dramatic, or explosive. It is extremely important to not rock the boat now, as extreme news is likely. Beware of accidents at all costs, especially those that stem from an emotional trigger. Some people could win big now while others lose big. Again, caution should be practiced at all times moving forward due to this highly volatile energy.

Despite this, Uranus does make beautiful connections to the other planets, which can aid us at this time. First, Uranus is sextile Saturn, which can help us to evolve if we think outside of the box and are open to new solutions and building new structures. Uranus is also sextile Neptune, offering opportunities when we are visionary, creative, intuitive, and spiritual. Lastly, Uranus is trine Pluto, which brings immense power of transformation and positive change if we seek to revolutionize ourselves of patterns, behaviors, and emotions that do not suit us, and embrace a forward-thinking mindset to build a new destiny.

The actions that are taken near this time will likely manifest near the full moon in Aquarius (6 degrees) on July 29, 2026. Keep this date on your calendar!
