The Super Full Moon Eclipse in Sagittarius Challenges You to Open Your Mind

Eclipse season begins on May 26, 2021 (4:14 a.m. Pacific Daylight Time) with a super full moon lunar eclipse in Sagittarius at (5°26’).

In the grand scheme of things, the two weeks between eclipses is a tiny window of time. But it’s also a time where our understanding can grow by leaps and bounds—that is, as long as we’re giving ourselves room to grow. By letting go of preconceived ideas at this eclipse, we free our minds to explore new possibilities and potentials.

Sagittarius is the sign that broadens our horizons: geographically, culturally, intellectually, and spiritually. Still, with the moon and South Node in this sign, our need to “know it all” may be getting in the way of genuine learning and growth. Perhaps the most important thing for us to know right now is how much we still don’t know—and may never fully comprehend—about ourselves, each other, and the wider world.

Under the Sagittarius full moon eclipse, it’s easy to assume that what’s true for us is true for everyone. But as this eclipse reminds us, that’s not always the case. The sun and North Node in the opposite sign of Gemini encourage us to keep an open mind. As we consider life’s big, burning questions, remember that there may be more than one right answer.

What Does the Super Full Moon Eclipse in Sagittarius Mean?

Indeed, with Jupiter ruling this eclipse, the possibilities appear to be endless. But that doesn’t mean all viewpoints are equally valid. As the Sagittarius moon and Gemini sun put pressure on Jupiter in Pisces (forming a mutable T-square), we may feel hard-pressed to discern what’s true and what is not.

Jupiter in Pisces is big on belief—even when there’s little to back it up. And while a little bit of magical thinking can work wonders in our lives, too much makes it easy to deceive ourselves (and others). So at this eclipse, we’ll need to balance faith with facts… and universal truths with the specifics of our situation. On a spiritual level, we may understand that all is one and everything is connected. But it’s also important to know where we end and others begin.

After all, each of us is on our own journey of enlightenment. And there’s nothing “enlightened” about disrespecting each other’s boundaries. As the Sagittarius moon trines Chiron in Aries, each of us should feel confident claiming our own experiences—and the wisdom and meaning we’ve gained from them.

We’ll just want to make sure that our interpretation bears some resemblance to consensus reality. With Venus in Gemini squaring Neptune/Pallas Athena in Pisces the day after this eclipse, it’s tempting to look for patterns that aren’t necessarily there—especially where relationships are concerned.

But a Mercury/Venus conjunction on May 28, followed by Mercury retrograde (May 29-June 22), is sure to reveal a different side of the story. So instead of trying to control the narrative, it may be smart to leave things open-ended… at least until the Gemini solar eclipse on June 10!
