Thanks to Uranus, This New Moon in Taurus Is More Push Than Pause

At 3:45 p.m. PST on May 4, 2019, the new moon will be in Taurus (14°11’).

When we’re ready for change, a new moon can be the perfect time to take those first baby steps. But at the new moon in Taurus, we often feel more like digging in our heels.

What Does This New Moon in Taurus Mean?

This fixed earth sign is where we prefer to stay in our comfort zones and tend to resist change the most. Fortunately, the great disruptor Uranus has recently entered Taurus …and he’s ready to give us the push (or shove) we need to get moving in the right direction. True, we may not always experience Uranus ’ energy as positive—especially not in the parts of our lives ruled by calm and stable Taurus. After all, this is where we love to move at our own pace and hate being rushed, pressured, or pushed. But with Uranus here to stay (at least until 2025), we’re better off welcoming his unpredictable energy and doing our best to work with it, not against it!

Uranus isn’t the only one lighting a fire under us right now. Venus, who rules this lunation, is currently in Aries, making us more impatient than usual to satisfy our heart’s desires. We sometimes get lazy during Taurus season, but at this new moon, we’re more motivated to go for what we want. And Venus’ conjunction with asteroid goddess Vesta helps us keep the fire burning—without burning ourselves out. We’re encouraged to keep the faith when things don’t seem to be going our way. The secret is knowing when to make things happen, and when to just let them happen.

What do the stars have in store for you this year?

Patience is key—and luckily for us, it’s also one of Taurus’ greatest virtues. This new moon’s trine with retrograde Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn helps us dig deep and draw upon inner resources as we move through some potentially challenging experiences. After all, we’re not just making superficial change this month. We’re in the early stages of a major transformation process… and that can be intense! But with heavy-hitters Saturn and Pluto on our side, we can trust we’ll have everything we need to weather the storm.

Taurus isn’t exactly known for taking leaps of faith, but at this new moon, we’re supported in doing just that! Still, it’s important to look before we leap—with the ongoing Jupiter/Neptune square currently being activated by Mars, there’s a risk of fooling ourselves and rushing into situations we may not be ready for just yet.

Our best bet this month is taking some concrete steps in our new direction while remembering that this is a marathon, not a sprint. Take your time and give yourself whatever you need to move through this process as comfortably as possible. Whatever keeps us in touch with our senses and fully present in our bodies, whatever helps us feel secure enough to take a risk—these are the things we’ll want to call in at this new moon. Horoscopes for the May 2019 New Moon in Taurus

Taurus

People think they know what to expect from you, Taurus. But you’ve got a rebellious streak that might surprise them—and maybe even yourself! True, your inner beliefs and attitudes evolved a long time ago. But now, the outside world is finally starting to catch up.

Gemini

It may not be fully formed yet, Gemini, but slowly and surely a hidden talent of yours is making its way to the surface. Connecting with the right teacher, mentor, or supportive tribe can help you build confidence as you cultivate your gifts.

Cancer

Even with the best-laid plans, Cancer, some things always slip through the cracks. And maybe that’s not such a bad thing. After all, when we release our need to control everything, we leave more room for spontaneity. Give yourself permission to go with the flow.

Leo

You’re a natural born leader, Leo. But that doesn’t mean you always need to be front and center. After all, you’re most inspiring when you let your heart—not your ego—take the lead. Create a little space this month for someone else to shine.

Virgo

When you really believe in what you’re doing, Virgo, you can do almost anything. But who says you need to do it all? If you’re feeling burned out, try delegating some tasks so you have the energy for the ones that really light your fire.

Libra

Relationships aren’t just about “you” and “me”— Libra, you know the key word is “we.” But when one person’s more invested than the other, it can throw the whole balance off. If you want this partnership to stay afloat, you’ll need a more equal exchange.

Scorpio

You’re not going anywhere, Scorpio —and you know your special person isn’t, either. But the rut you’ve gotten yourselves into is getting harder and harder to ignore. Radical (but loving) honesty, playfulness, and creativity may be just what the love doctor ordered!

Sagittarius

Wild-at-heart Sag —we know there’s a part of you that can never be tamed. But if you’ve been a little too carefree with your health lately, it’s time to start channeling your inner mama bear. Establish some new and improved self-care routines to keep you going strong.

Capricorn

Life is meant to be taken seriously, Capricorn —but it doesn’t always have to be hard work! And if anyone can afford to cut themselves some slack, it’s you. Whatever you’re doing right now, try approaching it in a more creative, fun, and gentle way.

Aquarius

You’d rather be out there changing the world. But right now, Aquarius, the real revolution is happening at home. And whether it’s a big move, a new addition to the family, or a redistribution of household duties, you’re needed on the front lines.

Pisces

So much to say, Pisces. It feels like you’ve been listening to other people talk forever—but now it’s time for you to get some things off your chest. This month, talking about your feelings is a powerful way to reclaim your own psychic space.

Aries

We’re all living in a material world, Aries. But no amount of money, status, or stuff can substitute for self-worth. Before running after some shiny new thing, consider whether it has true value to you. If the answer is no, just let it go.
