Spring Equinox: How to Harness the Energies

The wheel of life always turns, and as we spin through the heavens, we dance along the seasonal tapestry every year. Recent months in 2026 were filled with wild winter weather in the Northern Hemisphere, but finally, the turning point has arrived. The Spring Equinox approaches, promising longer days, rebirth, and a cosmic reset.

When is the Spring Equinox in 2026?

This year, the Spring Equinox arrives on March 20, 2026, at 7:46 AM (Pacific) and 10:46 AM (Eastern). We can officially welcome in the new season! The Spring Equinox is also International Astrology Day, as we begin a new astrological year. With the sun now blazing a trail into Aries—the first zodiac sign—we are ready to embrace Cardinal Fire energy and pioneer forth. From an astrological sense, we are eager to embrace all of the qualities of the ram—passion, courage, and desire. From an astronomical perspective, at this point in time, the sun crosses the celestial equator and moves north. In Latin, equinox means “equal night”—as day and night will be the same length in time. From this day forth until the Summer Solstice, the days will grow longer as the nights grow shorter. In this sense, it is as if we are experiencing an awakening, a rebirth, and a renewal.

What should we know about the energy of the 2026 Spring Equinox?

With Aries Season upon us, we are ready to conquer the paths before us and embrace our individual destinies. Ruled by Mars, the planet of drive, Aries as a zodiac sign embodies the energy of the mighty leader who races into battle and unites the army behind them.

Yet, we have some very unique energies taking place now—some that we have not felt for hundreds of years. Saturn, the planet of karma and life lessons, is now residing in the zodiac sign of Aries and will remain here until 2028. While the sun will not unite in a conjunction with Saturn right on the Spring Equinox, it will occur on March 25, right in the very early degrees (4 degrees Aries). This brings a sense of gravity to this period in time and a need to look for perseverance and toward the long-term. For some people, this may be a time of rewards as they are stepping toward greater levels of achievement if they have worked for it, while others may feel the weight of the world on their shoulders and only see dark clouds. Saturn’s energy is all about being practical and realistic, so this will be crucial now and if we have not been dutiful, we will feel the shadow of the Great Taskmaster planet.

Neptune, the planet of spirituality, is also now orbiting in the very early degrees of Aries, as well (1 degree Aries). Again, while the sun will not unite in a conjunction with Neptune on the exact day of the Spring Equinox, it does occur on March 22, just two days later. Just as all luminaries and planets in our solar system can have positives or negatives to their archetypes, the addition of the sun’s conjunction with Neptune can bring forth blessings or confusion. At this time, we may find that we are more sensitive, intuitive, compassionate, and imaginative—while other people could find themselves confused and lost in illusions and delusions with no way out of the mist.

To add another layer of significance to this period in time is that Mercury, planet of the mind—which has been retrograde since February 26, 2026—stations direct exactly on the Spring Equinox. This reveals that we will have a more disorienting time than usual navigating truth or fiction as we launch into the fresh season.

Despite this whirlwind of energies, the best thing to do at this time is to tap into the fire within to plan where we seek to go—not only in the season ahead—but also the entire year. Even though Aries energy charges first and thinks later, the universe is currently encouraging us to be more thoughtful, imaginative, compassionate, and realistic leaders in the times to come—and sometimes taking a step back to plan and be strategic can lead us more quickly to our destinations in the long run.

This is—and will be—a time of rebirth, as the Spring Equinox is every year. Yet, by harnessing the current celestial energies, all people can find ways to understand not only our own individual, independent, or ego-driven needs, but also how we can build a better world not only for ourselves, but for others, as well. With Pluto in Aquarius bringing immense attention to collective evolution and the needs of global communities, we may find that projects, plans, and situations built from now can revolutionize not only the months and years to come, but the times beyond that. This is particularly important to note because not only does the sun link in a beautiful sextile—a degree of harmony—with the sun on March 25, but Saturn will sextile Pluto exactly on March 28. The time to transform the structures of our lives and the world around us is now—so seize the day, live with a sense of hope, and embrace the profound cosmic power upon us.

What intentions, meditations, or mantras embody the 2026 Spring Equinox?

In general, this is an excellent time to focus on positive action and movement forward. All zodiac signs can harness these vibrations at this time as you not only set your sights on your personal or professional goals, but also take steps forward to get there. Some potential intentions, meditations, or mantras are:

• I create a new destiny.
• Courage is my strength.
• Leadership empowers my core.
• I will be a light in the darkness.
• Passion invigorates my life.
• I inspire people to build a better world.
• I am confident, strong, fearless, and bold.
• Fire ignites my soul.

How can I manifest with the 2026 Spring Equinox?

There are many techniques to aid in manifestation, especially depending on one’s traditions and spiritual beliefs. Manifestation is the ability to turn thoughts and ideas into energy that you harness and then move toward your goals. As mentioned previously, though, we are encouraged to take a breath and pause this year due to the cosmic energies—and then once we’re clear on our path and mission, we can charge ahead more confidently. Drawing up a vision board or strategic plan could be quite effective. Once you’ve done that, meditate upon it and then start taking action to back up your goals.

Also, with Aries being the Cardinal Fire sign, this may be an excellent time to integrate fire and light into rituals. Candles and incense may be helpful tools, too. When it comes to correspondences, Aries is associated with the following:

• Color: Red
• Symbol: the Ram
• Planet: Mars
• Element: Fire
• Stones: Tiger’s Eye (for confidence), Citrine (for success), Carnelian (for fire energy), Jasper (for optimism), and Bloodstone (for courage)

Happy Spring Equinox! May the light ignite within you!
