New Year’s Magic: Astrology, Tarot & Numerology Insights for 2025

Champagne, confetti, sparkly attire, and kisses. No matter where you are in the world, New Year’s Eve is associated with celebration and the promise of a fresh start when the clock strikes twelve. But you don’t need to be out on the town or at a fancy party to embrace the power of the new year. The power of intention and commitment to a fruitful year ahead can be exercised no matter where you are, or what you are doing when 2025 officially kicks off.

To get you ready for the new year ahead, let’s explore the astrology of the final days of the year, and what lies ahead in 2025 based on western and Chinese astrology, numerology, and tarot.

The Last New Moon of the Year

New Year’s Eve 2024 has a dose of extra magic associated with it because it falls the day after the last new moon of the year. New moons and the days following, are the ideal time to plant new seeds, and create newness in your life. So there is astrological significance, and a tad bit of irony to the fact that we will close out 2024 with this opportunity to start something new.

The new moon occurs on December 30, 2024 at 2:27 pm PST / 5:27 pm EST in pragmatic earth sign Capricorn. With Saturn’s influence on the two luminaries (sun and moon), the Capricorn new moon is an ideal time to get realistic, and plan for the things you want to build in your life; and also last a long time.

The day of the new moon, the sun and moon in Capricorn are in a harmonious aspect with Saturn, giving the opportunity for you to solidify something. This will require hard work and sacrifice on your behalf, but the payoff can be big and bring stability.

The moon in Capricorn may manifest as a more serious and muted energy during New Year’s Eve, but its sextile to Neptune and the south node will encourage practical dreaming. The ideas that come to you at this year’s end, and wishes from the past, are within reach if you do the work.

Communication planet Mercury is in harmony with healing asteroid Chiron, encouraging you to release doubts and outdated thinking from your past. Mars harmonizes with the nodes of the moon, aligning your actions with your destined path. And Jupiter and Saturn are separating from a point of tension, requiring you to take your time and practice temperance.

The last two days of the year are the perfect time to create a simple plan of action for 2025 for each area of your life you feel could use improvement. The key is to set realistic goals that can be broken down into monthly, weekly, and daily tasks that you can tackle consistently. You can increase your chances of success in the new year by taking into consideration the other mystical factors of 2025. So let’s take a look.

Numerology – Welcome a 9 Universal Year

Numerology is a powerful tool for navigating the energy of the year, your month, and your days. In numerology, each number 1 through 9 is associated with a particular frequency. 2025 is a 9 universal year (2 + 0 + 2 + 5 = 9), a number associated with endings, completion, wisdom, and awakening. 9 universal years are the end of a cycle and will require us to collectively let go of things, so that we can move forward as a society. Additionally, there may be emotional and spiritual lessons that arise for us to learn. Compassion and wisdom will be rewarded, as well as open-mindedness.

In addition to the energy of the universal year, everyone has a numerology chart, similar to an astrological birth chart, based on your birth date and full name at birth. You also have a personal year number that indicates the major themes you may experience for the year. Your 2025 Numerology Forecast can help you combine the energy of the 9 universal year, with your personal numerology for 2025, so you can set yourself up for success using the magic and beautiful simplicity of numbers.

Chinese Astrology – The Year of the Wood Snake

To go along with numerology’s theme of release, get ready to metaphorically “shed some skin” in 2025 during the Year of the Snake. Lunar New Year begins on the first new moon of the lunar calendar, and ends on the first full moon of the lunar calendar. Coming off The Year of the Dragon in 2024, the snake energy is a time for transformation, adaptability, reflection, and strategy. If you think about how a snake naturally moves, slow and calculated, this gives you an idea of the tone of the year. This is a time for long-term, strategic planning, which is in line with the Capricorn new moon that ends 2024. The theme of renewal and emotional introspection is aligned with the 9 universal year.

As with numerology, you have a personal 2025 Premium Chinese Horoscope that can take your Chinese astrology forecast for 2025 to the next level. The year you were born dictates your Chinese zodiac sign, and each sign will need to navigate the general snake energy in its own unique way. So if you were born under the Rat, Dog, Monkey, or another Chinese zodiac sign, the way you experience the metamorphosis that will come from the snake year will be unique, but surely powerful.

Tarot – Embrace the Silent Strength of The Hermit

The ancient divination tool of Tarot is a powerful way to explore the energy surrounding you at a particular moment in time. Tarot can be used to answer a particular question, but one of the best ways to use it is to link a card or cards to the energy of the day, week, month or year. For 2025, we pulled The Hermit, a major arcana card linked to introspection, soul-searching, patience, and intuition. Notice a theme here? The Hermit card is associated with mutable earth sign, Virgo, a master at detail, service, and healing. The Hermit energy wants you to go inward for clarity, and is synchronistically the 9th card of the Tarot, bringing the 9 universal year frequency full circle. This is an energy that requires the gathering of information before taking action because there is strength in waiting for the right timing. You can trust that things will unfold in divine time with the Hermit at the helm. Trusting the process will be key in 2025.
