New Moon in Virgo: Time to Tend Your Garden

The first new moon since the summer eclipse season ended is here! From September 10, you have a new moon in Virgo, and it’s bringing a fresh, clearing energy. If the last few weeks felt like the sky was shaking things loose, this new moon is here to help you put it back together.

After the Shake-Up, Some Steadier Energy

Eclipse season is behind you, and so is that unpredictable, plot-twisting energy that tends to reveal, rather than resolve, things in your life. This new moon brings an energetic reprieve. And if things got uprooted for you during eclipse season, this new moon is here to inspire you to work with that energy by planting some new seeds to tend to.

Venus also moves to Scorpio this same day, September 10, which brings a layer of quiet intensity in the area of love, along with the practical energy of this new moon. Where Virgo energy likes to sort, clean, and simplify, Venus in Scorpio desires depth. Think of it this way… the eclipses cracked open the soil. This new moon is when you actually plant some new seeds, but Venus in Scorpio wants to make sure you’re planting what really matters to you.

Virgo Season: The Magical Meets the Practical

Something magical about Virgo season is that it has this vibe of making the magical practical.

Tending and nurturing what you want to grow. Virgo season wants you to clear the clutter, literally and metaphorically. The junk drawer. The inbox. The relationship you’ve outgrown. The routine that no longer serves the person you’re becoming. Virgo is about doing the things in the daily that get you into alignment because that’s how things actually get actualized. The small acts of tending that make big differences in your life.

So on this new moon, do some pondering. What needs sorting? What needs clearing? And what daily thing could you add to your life that would make you feel more aligned?

Tending Your Seeds: How to Work With This New Moon

A new moon is a new beginning in the lunar cycle, a fresh start in nature, and a clean energetic slate to work with. While every new moon gives you a seed-planting moment, this one is an especially “fertile” new moon because it’s the first new moon following eclipse season, and it’s in Virgo, the sign of the goddess of Harvest, the sign of tending to your seeds, and the sign of getting tangible about the intentions you want to set and the things you want to manifest.

This new moon is a really great one to set an intention that’s very specific and then write down a step you would need to take to get there. Because part of manifesting is taking action. Intention, vision, and claiming your desire is one piece, and taking steps towards it is the other. This new moon wants you to not just set the intention but think about how you can take a step towards it. An actionable, tangible step. And it doesn’t even have to be a big one; it could be a baby step.

And if you’d like to work with the energy of this new moon by resting, cleaning, and resetting instead of formally setting an intention, that very much works too!! Sometimes tending your garden just means pulling weeds. You don’t always have to plant something new.

Your New Moon in Virgo Horoscope

Read for your rising sign first since that connects most directly to your birth chart, and then read your Sun sign for more. And as always, take what resonates, and leave what doesn’t.

Aries

Aries, this new moon lands in your house of health, routines, and daily work. If eclipse season shook things up for you, this is your reminder to rebuild your days with more care. Small, consistent habits will do more for you right now than any big overhaul. And taking things slowly (which we know you love;)).

Taurus

Taurus, this new moon touches your house of romance, creativity, and joy. This is a lovely, gentle reminder to make room for more play, not just as an indulgence, but as maintenance for feeling good. This is your permission to do more of the things that delight you.

Gemini

Gemini, this new moon settles into your home and family sector in your birth chart. This could be a good time to reset and clear your literal space. Whether that’s clearing the energy with some incense or sound bowls, or actually decluttering your closet or cleaning your kitchen, just some clearing in your space might do more for your peace of mind this week than anything else.

Cancer

Cancer, this new moon falls in your house of communication. This is a great window for organizing your thoughts, your calendar, your inbox, anything that’s been cluttering your mental space. Clear the noise so the signal can get through. Your beautiful intuition is even stronger when the noise is lower.

Leo

Leo, after a solar eclipse in your own sign and house of self, this one shifts to your sector of money, values, and self-worth in your chart. The new moon can act as a reminder to get practical about your resources, a little housekeeping of the material kind. A reassessment of what you actually value and what you want to spend your energy on, while also giving yourself permission to treat yourself, of course.

Virgo

It’s your season, Virgo!! And this new moon lands in your sign and in your first house of self and identity. This is your time to plant those seeds and let them (and yourself) bloom.

Libra

Libra, this new moon falls in your house of rest, dreams, and the subconscious. Before Libra season begins, this is the quiet, internal new moon. Allow yourself to slow down, sort through old emotional clutter, and clear space behind the scenes before you step into your next season.

Scorpio

Scorpio, this new moon transits your house of friendship, community, and networks. Consider it a gentle audit of your circle. Which connections feel aligned and worth tending, and which have quietly become clutter in your life? Plant seeds with the people who actually water you back.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius, the new moon in Virgo lands in your career and public life sector in your chart. This is a wonderful moment to get organized (not your favorite) about your professional path. Capricorn

Capricorn, this new moon touches your house of travel, higher learning, and philosophy. This is a good time to clear out any plans that have gotten stale and get practical about the next thing you actually want to learn or explore. And then maybe even take action by planning or booking a trip or signing up for a course… Just moving towards the things you want to explore.

Aquarius

Aquarius, this new moon arrives in your house of intimacy, shared resources, and alchemy. This is a good week to get honest about emotional entanglements that might not be best serving you anymore. And if there’s something that needs to be released, transmuting that energy into planting a new seed in that area of your life would be a great ritual to do on this new moon.

Pisces

Pisces, this new moon lands in your house of partnership and one-on-one relationships. Consider what needs tending in your closest connections. The small, consistent care that matters. Relationships, like gardens, thrive on maintenance. And both people in the relationship need to be doing the maintaining.
