Mercury Retrograde Starts June 29 — Here’s the Lucky Silver Lining for Each Sign

It’s that time of year again—Mercury retrograde strikes again!

Each year, our cosmic messenger planet, Mercury, enters into a retrograde phase three to four times. Often, Mercury retrograde phases repeat in similar elements throughout a year. This is because our cosmic messenger echoes patterns, teaching the human collective to focus on specific energies in our lives and in the greater world around us. For instance, when Mercury swirls out of orbit in Water signs—like we predominantly have in 2026—we find that our emotions and relationships become confusing and need to be reviewed and recalibrated. Also, the zodiac sign in which our cosmic messenger is swimming backward within draws emphasis to the specific themes we will be reviewing. This summer, Mercury spends a very long time in Cancer, which means we will find that situations from the past, family, real estate, home, or our domestic lives need an extra review. The good news, though, is that Mercury retrograde periods are not here to hurt or punish us—just to help us to take a step back, review our progress, and then get back on our path!

Mercury retrograde also happens in stages: pre-shadow: when the planet is slowing down, where we get hints of what is going to be “thrown off” during the retrograde, retrograde: when the planet actually looks like it is moving backward from our perspective here on Earth, and post-shadow: when the planet is gaining speed and we “sort out” whatever was not aligned during the actual retrograde phase. Let’s take a peek at an overview of important notes about our Summer 2026 mercury retrograde!

Your emotions may feel like they’re going haywire now, Aries. In particular, you will need to reassess situations involving the past, your home, your family, or your living situation. Something may pop up that needs review. If you’re in the midst of moving or handling a family affair, you will need a bit of patience.

TAURUS (APRIL 20 – MAY 20)

Prepare to feel like no one is hearing you correctly, Taurus. It may literally feel like you’re speaking a different language and no message is getting across. With communications extra frazzled, this is a time to listen, rather than make decisions or announcements.

GEMINI (MAY 21 – JUNE 20)

Watch your pocketbook with this upcoming Mercury retrograde, Gemini. It is drawing extra attention to your financial life—especially confusion around your income, possessions, or money you’re drawing in. For instance, delayed checks could be coming your way or even bounced checks!

CANCER (JUNE 21 – JULY 22)

You may feel as if the entire world is spinning in a cyclone and you’re in the center, Cancer. Literally everything—including all of your personal plans—are spiraling off the tracks. This is an ideal time to take a step back, go with the flow, and trust your instinct rather than making decisions.

LEO (JULY 23 – AUGUST 22)

Something feels significantly off at this time, but you might not be able to put your finger on it, Leo. It’s as if there are things happening behind the scenes and you just can’t see through the shadows. This is an ideal time to work in solitude, as secrets or hidden agendas may now emerge. Pay attention to your dreams.

VIRGO (AUGUST 23 – SEPTEMBER 22)

Of all the zodiac signs, you may actually enjoy the approaching Mercury retrograde a bit more than others, Virgo! With your social life highlighted, yes, there may be some confusion or miscommunication with your crew—but instead, it may signal that you’re reconnecting with old friends from the past. If this is the case, use this time to catch up.

LIBRA (SEPTEMBER 23 – OCTOBER 22)

Don’t make any major decisions around your career or professional life, Libra. Something is going to spiral off the tracks! For instance, you may find that a major goal is just out of reach or that you need to strategize your path to climb higher up the ladder.

SCORPIO (OCTOBER 23 – NOVEMBER 21)

While you may want to soar in vast new directions at this time, Scorpio, it appears you feel a bit stuck in the mud. This isn’t the end of the world by any means, it just reveals that you need to take new paths to swim upstream wherever you’d like to go.

SAGITTARIUS (NOVEMBER 22 – DECEMBER 21)

Prepare to deal with a bit of confusion around large financial matters, Sagittarius. This could be that a settlement, debt, inheritance, bonus, or large capital is delayed—or isn’t coming through like you’d hoped for. The best thing to do is try to think strategically about how to proceed.

CAPRICORN (DECEMBER 22 – JANUARY 19)

It may feel like everyone is misreading you at this time, Capricorn—especially anyone who is a significant partner, personally or professionally. You may feel that you’re just not on the same page and you have to realign your plans together. Listen and trust that it can all work out.

AQUARIUS (JANUARY 20 – FEBRUARY 18)

You’ve likely been moving and grooving in the fast lane, trying to be as productive as possible, Aquarius. However, it appears that you’re hitting snags with work projects or health every way you turn suddenly! This is more to test your patience and perseverance in the end.

PISCES (FEBRUARY 19 – MARCH 20)

While you’ll likely want to burst with rainbow light as you embrace passion, romance, and expression at this time, something seems off. The summer vibe is about slowing down and going with the flow, rather than racing into the next chapter. If you trust the process, you’ll be happier that you did instead of just jumping headfirst in and then regretting it down the line.
