Meditate on Magic and Celebrate the Earth Today

It seems incredible, but it is true: today is the mid-point of spring; we are halfway to summer.

This day is also known as Beltane or May Day. For thousands of years, this was the day we stopped and celebrated the earth, ripe with flowers and fruit.

Use this meditation to tap into that natural magic.

Find a quiet space and make yourself comfortable. Take one slow, deep breath to reconnect with your own magic. Then dive all the way into this vision and see what happens.

Gently turn your attention to the feeling of breathing and simply allow yourself to arrive wherever you are.

Really feel yourself in your body, really awakening to this exact moment in your life and whatever is happening, as it happens in real time.

In a soft way, feel like your inhales and exhales are flowing around and through your heart. Sense, feel or imagine your breathing is waking up your heart, revitalizing it and you can start to know what your heart is thinking and feeling.

Now in your mind’s eye, imagine that you yourself are a tiny seed of some beautiful flower. And you’ve been pushed down into the ground, you are safe and sound down in the earth.

You are really feeling your seed self for a moment, feeling small, self-protected,and nourished by the earth. Just enjoying a few breaths as the little seed, the beginning, all your potential contained.

And then feel the pressure as one tendril, one sprout pushes through the shell of your seed and starts to reach up, through the nutrient-rich soil and up to the surface. Really feel the moment that sprout crosses the threshold of the dirt and emerges up into the air and the light of the sun.

Breathe and feel the sun shining on you and what it feels like to convert that sunlight to energy. Feel yourself taking in the light and now growing, new stems, new leaves, new everything.

Feel yourself growing in two directions, up into the sky and down, with your roots into the earth.

Now realize you have a flower bud, closed tight at the top of your highest stem. Take a breath where you really feel how nice it is to keep all that beautiful potential to yourself.

(Read this last section, then close your eyes, enter the vision and experience it!)

And then feel the bud bloom open, and see what kind of flower you have become. Turn your flower face towards the sun, drink in that prismatic light.

Enjoy your flower self – how does it feel to shine that beauty out?

Realize you are not alone here, blooming in the sunlight. You are in a field of flowers and enjoy the beauty of that community – all of you together, all the colors shining in the sun.

Stay here, bloomed open within a blooming field and see what insights or good feelings arrive for you.
