Mars in Leo 2026 Ignites a Passion You’ll Chase Into 2027

What do you desire enough to pursue, even if the path changes along the way?

From September 27 until November 25, 2026, Mars, the planet of passion and drive, dances through the kingdom of Leo. This fiery transit can awaken your hunger for romance, creativity, and a life that feels more fully your own.

Whatever catches fire now may have another chapter in 2027. Mars will enter its pre-retrograde shadow in November, move into Virgo, and eventually backtrack into Leo during next year’s retrograde. That doesn’t mean you must have every answer today. It does make this an important time to notice which desires keep calling for your attention.

Let’s look at what Mars represents, why Leo amplifies it, and the dates to watch.

What Does Mars Represent in Astrology?

The planets reflect different parts of our lives and personalities. Mercury, Venus, and Mars are known as personal planets because their archetypes connect closely to your daily experiences.

Mars speaks to passion, desire, drive, assertion, and the courage to go after a goal. At its best, the red planet invigorates you with strength. When its energy runs unchecked, the same fire can fuel conflict, impatience, or explosive drama. Mars takes roughly two years to travel through the zodiac, and each sign gives that drive a different direction.

In astrology, Mars rules Aries, traditionally rules Scorpio, and is exalted in Capricorn. In Leo, another fire sign, Mars has a stage for bold action and creative expression. You may feel an urge to show the world what matters to you.

Why Mars in Leo Could Reignite Your Passions

Jupiter is also traveling through Leo, where it arrived at the end of June 2026 and will remain until July 2027. Known as the Great Benefic, Jupiter expands whatever it touches. As Mars moves through the same sign, your desires may feel larger, more urgent, and harder to keep to yourself.

Leo is fixed fire, associated with the heart, romance, creativity, recreation, and the love you give. It also rules performance and leadership: the ways you make yourself visible and invite others to see what you can do. Leo can be generous, confident, and passionate. Its shadow is the temptation to seek applause instead of asking whether the pursuit itself makes you happy.

With Mars acting like a supercharged battery, these themes may take up more space in your life. Singles could feel ready to pursue someone who catches their eye, while couples may want to reignite their spark. Artists and creators might find the motivation to return to a project or share work they’ve kept private. If you have children, you may put more energy into time together and the things that bring them joy.

Jupiter can make the possibilities feel thrilling, but Mars asks you to do something with them. Make the invitation. Start the project. Give your talent a chance to be seen. Pay attention to what still matters after the first rush of excitement fades, because that desire may become part of the story you revisit in 2027.

Why Mars Returns to Leo in 2027

Mars enters its pre-retrograde shadow on November 5, 2026, near 21 degrees of Leo. It will leave Leo for Virgo on November 25, then return to Leo during its retrograde in 2027.

A retrograde can ask you to reconsider how you’ve spent your energy. A romance, ambition, or creative pursuit that begins during this first Mars in Leo transit may look different when you encounter it again. You might discover you want it more than you realized. You could also find that you were chasing the recognition around it rather than the thing itself.

For now, you don’t need to predict which way it will go. Be willing to follow your passion and stay curious about what it teaches you.
