La Petite Mort: A Sex Magic Ritual for Scorpio Season
Scorpio season knows a thing or two about desire. The sign of Scorpio is associated with sex, magic, and deeply focused willpower. Put them together, and your next self-love session becomes an opportunity to get intimate with what you want.
Sex magic works with the spiritual belief that energy can be shaped by intention. Sexual energy is life energy, and pleasure gives you something powerful to work with. In this ritual, orgasm becomes a moment to hold your desire at the center of your awareness, then let the ripples carry it outward. Set the mood. You’ve got a little magic to make.
Clarify Your Desire
Before we begin, what is it that you want? Are you looking for romance, financial stability, creative inspiration, or open roads toward success? Take a few minutes to sit with yourself and what you actually want.
Start simple, perhaps with something pragmatic and tangible. If you’re looking for more financial security, think of an amount that would help you this week. Is that $50? $100? $500? Let that give your intention a clear focus.
As you begin to explore manifestation, keep your intentions simple and easy to remember. You don’t want to bring yourself out of the moment by trying to recall something complex! Choose a short phrase or an image that captures your desire. With practice, you can explore intentions that have more layers.
Our ritual is designed for a solo self-love session. With some creativity and a playful attitude, you can also adapt it with a consenting adult partner.
Set the Mood for Your Ritual
Keep in mind that this is supposed to be fun and feel good. After you’ve fine-tuned your intention, take some time to get relaxed and in the mood.
Take a luxurious bath. Anoint yourself with a favorite lotion or body oil. Dress in clothing that makes you feel sexy and comfortable. Turn on that lovemaking playlist you adore and dance.
The goal is to feel at home in your body. Follow your own pleasure and let the preparations become part of the ritual.
Create Your Sex Magic Altar
As you set the mood, you can set the altar. Again, this is your practice and your pleasure, so follow your own desires on the specifics. Modify these supplies for your allergies, sensitivities, and living situation.
- Candles: At least one, in white or pink.
- Scents: Jasmine, rose, vanilla, or amber. You can also include copal if it’s part of your spiritual practice.
- Plant Allies: Perfumed flowers such as roses, jasmine, irises, gardenias, or orchids. Strawberries, apples, cardamom, and coriander are other options.
- Altar Cloth: A cloth in pink or white, or a fabric that feels special to you.
Use what you have. A single flower and candle can give you a place to focus your attention.
The altar can sit on a table or nightstand. Your bed can become part of the sacred space, too, with clean sheets and pillows. Keep lit candles on a stable surface away from bedding.
Work With Pleasure and Intention
Light your candles and, if it’s part of your practice, say a prayer to your spiritual allies. State your desires and offer gratitude for their help.
Most importantly, enjoy yourself. Take your time and stay connected to how you feel. Working with sexual energy gives this ritual its focus, but there’s no need to turn pleasure into another thing you have to get right.
Return to your phrase or visualization when it feels natural. You can hold your intention in mind during orgasm or another moment of connection with your body. Let the intention support the experience without demanding all your attention.
Close the Ritual and Let Go
Afterward, let your intention float away with the relaxation in your limbs. Take a few quiet moments for yourself, thank your spiritual allies, and extinguish your candles.
Let the universe work, and stay open to the practical opportunities that support your desire. The ritual is a way to focus your intention; what unfolds afterward still has room for your participation.
