Is the Lion’s Gate Portal Real? The Ancient History Behind It, According to an Expert

As soon as August announces itself, mystics know it’s time to get ready for one of the most luminous energetic portals of the year, the Lion’s Gate Portal, which peaks around August 8. The excitement on social media is real and undeniable, but so is the pushback from some professional astrologers. As the popularity of this portal rises, resonating for more and more souls every year, the confusion also rises. While some professional astrologers are behind it, traditional astrologers deny its validity and foundation. So, is the Lion’s Gate Portal real? We’ve tapped into the deep wisdom of Divine Harmony, an expert and professional master teacher, astrologer, and mentor with twenty-nine years of experience in the field.

Lion’s Gate Portal History

The Lion’s Gate Portal is not just an astrological phenomenon—it has roots in the intersection between ancient Egyptian cosmology, numerology (8/8), and astrology. It’s key to understand, however, that the astrological part of this portal—other than it being Leo season—is not based on traditional astrological alignments like the ones you read in your yearly horoscope.

Sirius, the brightest star in our sky and the most revered star by the ancient Egyptians due to its connection to the goddess Isis, is a central piece, becoming visible in late August after months of invisibility. Back then, the sun’s alignment with Sirius was not measured with computers or software like it is today. According to Harmony, “Sirius’s involvement in the Lion’s Gate Portal is based on how the ancients used to study the movement of the stars across the sky, which could only happen at night and with the naked eye.” Seen this way, the Lion’s Gate Portal is based on a Sun-Earth-Sirius alignment relative to the Earth before the sun rises. This alignment is not based on traditional astrological aspects (like conjunction, square, declination, etc.). “The Lion’s Gate Portal is a modern-day mystical gateway where the ancient and the contemporary collide,” she adds.

The Astronomy Behind the Lion’s Gate Portal: Sirius Star Astrology

According to Harmony, the confusion comes when we add the concept of location. Visibility-wise, not everyone will see Sirius rising before sunrise at the same time. In her class, Lion’s Gate Portal Masterclass, Harmony teaches how, depending on your location, you may be able to witness Sirius rising, under the right conditions, either days later or days before 8/8. This is the reason why the Lion’s Gate Portal expands over many days during the middle of Leo season every year.

Right now, in 2026, when gazing at the horizon on the Giza plateau in Egypt, just before sunrise and under the right conditions, you would see Sirius rise before the sun—an alignment that happens exactly on August 8. According to Harmony, “this is set to change due to the astronomical concept of precession, moving from August 8 to August 9, to August 10, and so on over many years to come.” Similarly, when the sun travels at 15 degrees of Leo, the Egyptians celebrated Solar Lughnasadh, the first solar gate after the summer solstice, right after the sun reaches its maximum peak in the sky. Harmony herself calls this moment in time “the gate of enlightenment and ascension.”

Lions, Ancient Egypt, and the Number 8

There is no doubt that the Lion’s Gate Portal is connected to Egypt—its cosmology, its goddesses, its cultural celebrations, and one of the animals most featured in its majestic temples. Lioness goddesses like Sekhmet and Mut appear all over the Temple of Mut, the Karnak Temple Complex, and the Temple of Ptah, just to name a few. “We find lions in all ancient cultures, but even in more modern architecture, we find lion statues at the entrance of palaces because lions are the protectors of the sunrise and the sunset, and of yesterday and tomorrow.” Interestingly, the Lion’s Gate Portal is downgraded to New Age woo-woo by some when it is an archetypal thread of protection and royalty in all ancient cultures around the world.

The tarot card Strength, which features a maiden lovingly taming a lion with the number 8 sideways, is a card of self-belief, courage, and fortitude. Numerologically, 8 is a very important number—ruled by Saturn, the planet of time—representing infinity, manifestation, and self-mastery. Interestingly, some of the people who meditate and connect with the sky during this portal report having mystical experiences that feel much more potent than a regular meditation session. They feel empowered and connected to ancient knowledge and wisdom.

Why 2026’s Lion’s Gate Portal Is Different, According to Astrologers

Harmony believes there are many factors contributing to the Lion’s Gate Portal becoming so popular in recent years, even though its roots are ancient. The fact that the heliacal rising of Sirius is exactly on 8/8 feels aligned with the rest of the astrology of 2026, which is all about spiritual awakening and the beginning of a new astrological era.

Jupiter —the planet of expansion and spirituality—is traveling in Leo, amping up the interest in connecting with this portal’s high vibes. Also due to precession, Sirius is in the process of moving to 15 degrees of Cancer, the degree of Jupiter’s exaltation, which is a super-rare and positive alignment. Jupiter in Leo is also part of the rarest astrological alignment in recorded history, creating an easier channel for major downloads to occur.

How to Work With the Lion’s Gate Portal Energy in 2026

While the Lion’s Gate Portal has reached popularity as a manifestation portal, it’s much more than just about bringing things to fruition. Harmony sees it as a way to connect with energies that aren’t available to us all the time: a portal toward positive transformation via the incoming light and the expansion of consciousness. Lion energy—like the goddess Sekhmet’s, for example—is fierce and potent. Attuning to the Lion’s Gate Portal energy via meditation or ritual may deliver a message about how your life may be evolving in 2027 and even 2028. In divine timing, it may trigger the spiritual awakening that your soul craves in this special celestial moment, because the time to evolve is now.

The absolute truth about the Lion’s Gate Portal is this: it may not speak the language of traditional astrology, but it speaks the language of the ancients—and that lineage alone makes it worth honoring. It belongs to something older, wider, and far more luminous.
