“Lightning strikes… maybe once, maybe twice…” When the second full moon of the month just happens to fall on Halloween, it’s time to get witchy! We’re invited to channel our inner Stevie Nicks, and go twirling under the moonlight.

Halloween, or Samhain, is when the veil between the material and spiritual worlds is said to be at its thinnest. So we can expect this “blue moon” to reveal some deep emotional insights. These may be a continuation or culmination of whatever arose for us at the Aries full moon (October 1). We’ve had a month to mull over and flesh out these initial perceptions. Now, we can anchor them into our embodied experience.

Embodiment, after all, is what fixed-earth Taurus is all about. While spiritual energies are running high this time of year, it’s through our bodies and physical senses that we experience them fully.

What Does the October Blue Moon in Taurus Mean?

This full moon’s most essential revelation is the reality of constant change. Taurus often resists change, preferring to stick with what’s comfortable and familiar. At the same time, though, it’s deeply connected to the natural cycles—changing seasons, waxing and waning moons—that make change a basic fact of life.

In fact, as the sun in the opposite sign of Scorpio reminds us, change is the only constant in life. This makes it crucial not to get too attached to things remaining as they are. We should savor each joyful moment, knowing that it will not last forever. Similarly, we can rest assured that painful moments will also pass. And remember, there’s plenty of magic to be found this Scorpio season— it’s all about learning how to harness it.

Still, with this full moon exactly conjunct retrograde Uranus, change may be happening at an accelerated or unpredictable pace. And that can be tough for stability-seeking Taurus. Unexpected revelations and developments can seem to come out of nowhere. If we’re honest, though, these seeds were probably planted long ago. Perhaps we’ve just been avoiding the reality that something needed to change. Uranus wakes us up and shakes us out of our complacency.

Both Taurus and Scorpio prefer to be in control—whether it’s over resources, relationships, or other circumstances. But the more we try to control things right now, the more uncontrollable this full moon’s energy will prove itself to be. We’re better off focusing on what we can control: our own responses to what’s happening, both around us and within us.

Still, this full moon can throw us off-balance emotionally. And an opposition between lunation ruler Venus in Libra and retrograde Chiron in Aries makes it challenging to regain our equilibrium. Peace and healing can happen, but justice has to happen first.

With retrograde Mercury in Libra and Saturn in Capricorn also squaring off at this full moon, we may experience some communication breakdowns. Mercury Retrograde Is Here—Fill Out Your Ballot Early with Zodiac the Vote! Libra’s charm and grace can undermine the seriousness of what we’re trying to say. So we’ll need to be more matter-of-fact to get our point across.
