Venus goes retrograde, forcing us to take a deeper and more honest look at how we relate to love, romance, and sexuality. The new moon in Libra will offer a chance at a fresh start, and Mercury conjunct Venus in Scorpio (not to mention the waxing moon and Jupiter also in Scorpio) only adds fuel to the phoenix’s fire. This is sure to unearth some buried treasure – or some hidden secrets. To top it all off, the sun slips into Scorpio’s black leather corset on the same day as the Hunter’s Moon, rising full and lush in the decadent sign of Taurus.

This month will have us re-evaluating our relationships and investigating whether they add or detract from our wellbeing. Fittingly, on the very last day of October, two planetary forces switch signs: Mercury skips giddily into Sagittarius, enabling us to speak our dreams aloud, while Venus slips backwards into Libra for a second look at her values. If we’ve done the work, things in our relationship sector can blossom at that time. Read on for the crystals that may be able to support you the most in this work this month!

ARIES

Herkimer Diamond

When the sun is transiting opposite our natal sun, we sometimes have ego struggles or feel plagued by doubts and confusion. This October might be especially rough for the Aries natives among us, as the Scorpio approach is relatively alien to Aries’ naturally blunt presentation. Misunderstandings may flare up. Herkimer diamond can help! An energetic and visual cousin of the traditional Aries birthstone, Herkimer diamonds (named for Herkimer, NY but also found in a few other localities around the world) are brilliant double-terminated quartzes brimming with clarifying energy and high vibes.

TAURUS

Citrine

Venus’ retrograde through Scorpio will undoubtedly amplify a Taurean tendency toward procrastination, and can tip the scales from self-care to sloth if we aren’t careful. Taurus needs a boost of energy this month in order to get it all done, and citrine is the ideal companion, especially if worn or carried in a pocket. Citrine is an easy-to-find and readily available ally when it comes to boosting economic fortune and energetic prowess, and it can work as a battery for beleaguered bulls this month.

GEMINI

Malachite

Things are a little more vital and enticing for Gemini this month, but one must be wary of being swept up in having too much information to make a decision properly. There’s a distinct possibility, too, that there may be some mysteries to solve or intrigue to get to the bottom of in your personal life this month. Malachite is the charm-of-the-moment for Gemini, carried as a protective and grounding talisman. Ancient legend held that malachite would shatter in the presence of wickedness and provide sanctuary to its bearer. In this case, malachite serves as a touchstone to help one stay connected to one’s truest self.

CANCER

https://www.instagram.com/p/BfeeuOYBmQX/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Carmelian

All of the watery influence of so many Scorpio ingresses feels welcoming to Cancerians, who are ready to dive deep into the wellspring of nostalgia and really sort through the depths in regards to Venus’ retrograde situation. Ancestral work and processing old relationships are both going to hold strong influence for Cancer this month, and the stone to place on your altar is carnelian – an ancient symbol of power, potency, and persona. The orange lamplight of carnelian will keep Cancer strong and luminous while they bravely plumb the depths.

LEO

https://www.instagram.com/p/BhM_PaLB33t/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Merlinite

The dizzy overwhelm of Leo-Aquarius eclipse season having safely passed, Leo deserves a break and a breath and a moment to recover and recalibrate. Ideally, Leo can use this month for recuperation and self-nurturance, and gear up for a brighter and more active winter ahead. Merlinite can help in the balancing act between social life and private life, between humility and pride. A heavier, denser energy than Leo might normally feel attracted to, merlinite provides the anchor necessary for Leo to take a small hermetic retreat and ease into all of the new personal pathways that were undoubtedly uncovered by this year’s series of eclipses.

VIRGO

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn5Ghi6AJjE/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Red Jasper

Health and vitality are key components of Virgo’s success, oft-described in the classic astro literature in terms of fussiness, delicate constitutions and excessive particularity. Now is indeed a time for Virgo to really dig deep into physical wellness and feelings of bodily sovereignty – new diets, workout plans and self-care routines abound. There’s a sort of “if not now, then when” feeling with all of this Libra/Scorpio energy in the air. Red jasper is grounding, stabilizing, and removes Virgo’s nervousness about asking for what they need. Best when worn lovingly or held in the hands while meditating.

LIBRA

https://www.instagram.com/p/BmKCRbBHdJE/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Zebra stone

Happy birthday, you resonant being! Lush peacekeepers, gorgeous to look at, creating much happiness, Libra is such a lovely energy to behold. And yet, this month may prove emotionally tender for the scale-balancers. It feels as if there’s a bit of pressure on Libra to make a decision this month, and if there’s one thing Libra likes less than pressure it is making decisions. Zebra stone is a perfect stone for Libra at all times of the year but especially this month. Considered to be a charm against apathy and overwhelm, this unassuming little black-and-white stone helps with resilience, optimism, gratitude and confidence. A zebra worry stone would make a thoughtful addition to a Libra gift this month.

SCORPIO

https://www.instagram.com/p/BnoHnZonYXG/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Ruby

Well, well, well. Scorpio’s energy field is so powerful this year! What with Jupiter twirling ecstatic through your underworld, and the powerhouse Scorpio vibe on October 10 lighting up the charts of those of us with strong Scorpio influence. We will get a triple dose of power, intensity and prestige – something Scorpio can wield with precision if prepared. Ruby is the natural ally for this moment, blood-red and beautiful, sexy and potent. Wear a ruby at your ears or throat for maximum impact and stand in your power.

SAGITTARIUS

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn6fcSZHLUW/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Chrysocolla

As a natural leader who doesn’t always want to lead, Sagittarius can find this month’s gloom and intensity a little much to bear. Folks may heap their own problems on archers this month; Sagittarius may be blamed for things they didn’t have anything to do with, or it may feel like an uncomfortable spotlight is trained upon the centaur. To help keep things chill, travel with chrysocolla, a stone of peace and tranquility. This will amplify the Libran vibes and aid in Sagittarius keeping a cool head and a joyous heart.

CAPRICORN

https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn46h7MHnc4/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Amazonite

Beware an urge to jump to conclusions this month, Capricorn! The temptation is there. Communication progresses mysteriously as Mercury descends into the Scorpio underworld, and the Libra forces square off against Capricorn. Best to let things flow and cultivate a laissez-faire attitude where possible. Promise yourself that you’ll get to the truth eventually; you don’t have to invent it for yourself. Amazonite can be your BFF this month – often called the “stone of truth,” this gorgeous mineral can keep you close to your own truth and far from anyone else’s deception.

AQUARIUS

https://www.instagram.com/p/BVXTt_Phabf/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Pink Kunzite

We’re in the last days of the Leo-Aquarius nodal experience that gave us such a wild eclipse season, and Aquarius, like their sibling Leo, may need a bit of a breather. But all of the unearthing and exploration going on this month is exciting and intoxicating to Aquarius, who craves and delights in the avant-garde and revels in utopian ideas, and the respite that Aquarius seeks is in the supportive kindness of friendship and community. Join the party with pink kunzite, a giddy pink shimmer-friend who can unlock new ideas around love, both for yourself and others. Brainstorm new solutions to old problems. Be bold and loving – it is good medicine for everyone.

PISCES

https://www.instagram.com/p/BnhyCSUhuc0/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Amethyst

Like Cancer, Pisces is at home in the watery depths, but the intensity of what’s coming up may feel a little overwhelming for the Fishes. Rather than panic and back away, or recede into self-destructive habits, take the edge off by sitting with amethyst. Always a favorite of children and other innocents, regal purple amethyst boasts a centuries-long association with spiritual wellness, the crown of the head (where the divine enters the body) and inner vision. Pisces often carries a natural psychic gift, and amethyst provides a radiant buffer that allows them to feel at ease and safe (but still wildly transcendental) during this profound exploration of ourselves.
