Big Changes Are Coming! What the March 2025 Eclipses Have in Store

Buckle up for a wild ride, because March may just be the most eventful month of 2025. Two eclipses, two inner planet retrogrades, the astrological New Year, an outer planet shift, and lots of potent aspects in between, are guaranteed to bring a likely much-needed change to you and many people around you. The two major eclipses in March may help to close one chapter in your life, and open a new one, so let’s take a deep dive into the March 2025 eclipses, the energy they will transmute, and what this means for you.

Eclipses & The Fated Path

Eclipses are more potent and powerful new or full moons that usually bring dramatic events and/or changes into our lives and put us on a new path, since they are connected to the nodes of fate in astrology. Eclipses occur when the sun, moon, and Earth align near the lunar nodes—the points where the Moon’s orbit intersects with the Sun’s apparent path. These nodes, known as the north and south nodes, or Rahu and Ketu in Vedic astrology, represent destiny in astrology, with the north node pointing toward growth and new lessons, while the south node reflects past mastery and familiar patterns. Because eclipses activate these karmic points, they bring pivotal moments that push us forward, often marking life-changing shifts. The lunar nodes move in reverse through the zodiac, completing a full cycle every 18.6 years. This means eclipse cycles repeat in the same areas of our birth chart approximately every 9 and 18 years, making them key moments of transformation.

The Virgo Full Moon Lunar Eclipse

On March 14, 2:55 am EST / March 13, 2025, 11:55 pm PST, there is a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse at 23 degrees Virgo that will kick off March’s eclipse season. This eclipse is important because it officially ushers in the Pisces/Virgo eclipse themes that will play out throughout the year. Both Pisces and Virgo are signs that are connected to service and sacrifice, but they do it in different ways. Pisces, as mutable water, with a symbol of two fish swimming in opposite directions, is as fluid as a zodiac archetype can be. Pisces is ruled by the lucky planet Jupiter in traditional astrology, and the planet of illusions Neptune, in modern astrology. Pisces energy is creative, compassionate, but sometimes escapist and self-sacrificing. Virgo, as a mutable earth sign, with the symbol The Virgin, is the archetype of an adaptable builder. Virgo is ruled by the communication planet, Mercury, and its energy is meticulous, analytical, but sometimes overly critical. With the Virgo full moon eclipse happening during Pisces season (full moons are always in the sign opposite the sign the sun is in at the time), this eclipse will require the balancing of both the Pisces and Virgo energy, but with an eclipse twist.

Because the south node sits next to the moon during the lunar eclipse, there is a theme of release. One of Virgo’s strengths is seeing minute details, mastering complex situations, and making things better overall. While this can be a great skill, when taken too far, perfectionism or analysis paralysis can persist and stifle creativity – an energy connected to Pisces. During this eclipse, the sun and Saturn in Pisces sit across from the moon. Uranus in Taurus, makes a positive aspect to the moon. And Mercury, ruler of this lunation, is in Aries, next to a retrograde Venus in Aries. This eclipse energy may bring an unexpected event, or the need to let go of something in your life, so that you can move forward towards your dreams, or a new vision for yourself. Sacrifice will be required with Saturn’s involvement, but also a need to go with the flow with Uranus’ presence, and the mutable energy of Pisces and Virgo. Events connected to eclipses may be felt in the weeks leading up to the event, or after, so pay attention to the major themes that come up for you in March. This Virgo eclipse may bring an ending that makes way for an important new beginning.

The Aries New Moon Solar Eclipse

March 28, 6:58 am EST / 3:58 am PST, there’s a new moon solar eclipse at 9 degrees Aries. This eclipse will help you forge a new path that you’ve been working towards, consciously or subconsciously, since 2024 when the eclipses occurred on the Aries/Libra axis. This eclipse can be seen as a sort of “rite of passage,” and the official crossing over to a new territory, especially since it’s a new moon, which is always about planting seeds for new beginnings. Aries is an important energy that we will all need to get familiar and comfortable with, since both Neptune and Saturn will move into this sign in March and May, respectively. As a cardinal fire sign, represented by a ram, and the first of the western zodiac, Aries energy is the epitome of new beginnings, charging forward, and being fearless. During this eclipse, a retrograde Mercury is also in Aries, and Mars, ruler of the lunation, is in Cancer, making a positive aspect to Saturn, Venus, and the north node in Pisces. Uranus in Taurus is square to Chiron in Aries. While Mercury retrograde is not a great time to start something new, this new moon is about getting prepared. The energy of Saturn is present for planning, Uranus can bring a much needed shakeup where you may be stagnant, and the north node/eclipse energy will make sure you end up where you need to go. Once Mercury goes direct April 7, taking physical action towards your goals will be supported.

Here are the areas of your life where you can plant new seeds, and move forward with a spirit of newness based on your zodiac sign.

• Aries sun/rising – Yourself, your personality and physical body
• Taurus sun/rising – Your subconscious, karma, dreams, endings
• Gemini sun/rising – Friendships, your network and hopes and wishes

March 2025 is a month of profound shifts, closing old doors while opening new ones in ways you may not expect. Eclipses are cosmic course correctors, and with both Virgo and Aries energy at play, you’re being asked to release what no longer serves you and boldly step into a new chapter. Trust the process, embrace the changes, and know that the universe is guiding you exactly where you need to be!
