Be Careful What You Wish for Under the Pisces New Moon

On March 13, 2021 (2:21 AM Pacific Time), there will be a new moon at 23°04’ of Pisces.

“The tiny island seems lost in the broad ocean, but its happy inhabitants have created a world all their own.” The Sabian symbol for this new moon perfectly captures the Piscean vibe. Under the influence of the mutable water sign, we might be swept up by an ocean of emotions—or carried away by our own streams of consciousness. But chances are, we wouldn’t have it any other way.

When the sun and moon align in the sign of the Fishes, we go “fishing” as well: for creative inspiration and intuitive insights; for unconditional acceptance, compassion, and love; or anything else that makes us feel a deeper sense of spiritual connection. By simply opening our hearts and being receptive to these energies, we invite more of their loveliness into our lives.

This is especially true right now, as Venus and Neptune make their own conjunction in Pisces and form a stellium with the sun and moon. Neptune’s vivid imagination, combined with Venus’ powers of attraction, give us everything we need to visualize and magnetize our heart’s desires.

The tricky part is getting clear on what we really want. While Venus-Neptune is ideal for making dreams come true, it can also create some confusion around our values and desires. So at this new moon, the advice to “be careful what you wish for” is worth taking to heart.

But it’s not just about knowing what we want. Ideally, we’re also able to articulate why. The moon’s sextile with Pluto in Capricorn encourages digging deeper into our own (and other people’s) underlying motivations. Not in a paranoid or suspicious way, but simply to make sure our intentions are pure—and our expectations are grounded in reality.

After all, before we can transform situations for the better, we have to accept them as they currently are. Moon sextile Pluto helps us face the shadow in ourselves and others, and respond to it with love and grace. Just remember, there’s a difference between accepting and enabling. And Pisces has a tendency to blur these kinds of boundaries—so make sure you know where to draw the line.

As the Pisces moon squares off with asteroid Juno in Sagittarius, commitments and contracts of all kinds are being put to the test. We’re challenged to “practice what we preach” in our personal relationships, and relate to each other as real people, not our idealized images.

Also, remember that everyone is on their own journey. It’s tempting, under a Pisces moon, to take on other people’s emotions. But with Ceres almost conjunct Chiron in independent Aries, each of us is responsible for our own healing and nurturing. We can’t expect anyone else to complete us, or do things for us that we won’t do for ourselves.

That being said, we’re all in this together—and a loving word or thought sent someone’s way can make all the difference in their life right now. Fortunately, Mercury moves into Pisces two days after this new moon, opening the channels of compassionate communication.

Horoscopes for the New Moon in Pisces

Pisces

“Who am I to judge?” It’s this accepting attitude, Pisces, that makes you so endearing to others. Still, it’s often easier to have compassion for your friends than to show the same kindness toward yourself. This new moon is a chance to change all that—and perhaps become your own best friend.

Aries

Love is all there is, Aries—deep in your heart, you know this already. But life in the “real world,” with all its demands, tends to obscure this spiritual awareness. Fortunately, this new moon brings you back to your center. Meditation and dreamwork are excellent ways to reconnect with spirit… and with yourself.

Taurus

Teamwork makes the dream work, Taurus. So at this new moon, you’re looking to join forces with others who share your vision. But even more important than finding friends who are like-minded, is connecting with people who are truly like- hearted. Whatever you’re dreaming up together, let love be the inspiration.

Gemini

Living the dream, Gemini? By all appearances, at this new moon, you certainly seem to be! But appearances can be deceiving—and only you know what’s in your heart of hearts. Ideally, your life should inspire you as much as it inspires others. If that’s not the case, it’s time to dream up something new.

Cancer

Sometimes being kind is more important than being right. And for you, Cancer, this new moon is definitely one of those times. Relax your personal rules a little, and resist the urge to make moral judgments—at least for the time being. By doing so, you’ll create more space for empathy and understanding.

Leo

More than meets the eye! Leo, this new moon awakens your interest in the unseen dimensions of life. You’re more sensitive to subtle energies, and perhaps even more receptive to messages from the “other side.” Still, you don’t have to accept everything on blind faith. Trust your intuition, and listen to your heart.

Virgo

Romantic or platonic, Virgo, this new moon could be the beginning of a beautiful relationship. You’re finding that the more you look for the good in others, the more lovable they become—and the more attracted they are to you. Just remember, you can’t pick a rose without accepting the thorns as well.

Libra

Love is a verb, Libra: It’s not only something we feel in our hearts, but something we actively do. So whether or not you’re feeling the love at this new moon, set the intention to act in loving ways toward both yourself and others. The warm, fuzzy feelings are likely to follow.

Scorpio

Invoke the muse, Scorpio! For you, creativity is best when it’s divinely inspired. But in order to channel it, you have to be open and receptive to the flow. Set the intention at this new moon to make yourself more available. Leave yourself some room to daydream, and let your imagination run wild.

Sagittarius

“Domestic bliss” may sound like an impossible dream, Sag—especially after months of quarantining at home. But at this new moon, it’s well within the realm of possibility for you. With a little imagination and a lot of love, you can create the sacred space that you’ve been fantasizing about.

Capricorn

Listen to your heart, Capricorn, and it will usually tell you everything you need to know. Still, the message can sometimes get lost in translation when you try to put your feelings into words. Fortunately, this new moon helps you find more creative, subtle, and symbolic ways of getting your point across.

Aquarius

“What’s mine is yours”: At this new moon, Aquarius, that’s your altruistic attitude. After all, there’s more than enough to go around—so you’re happy to let money and resources flow through your fingers to wherever they’re needed most. Remember, though, that it’s okay to keep a little something for yourself.
