A Fresh Start: Mercury Goes Direct

There was a new moon in Aries yesterday, and Mercury ended its retrograde period in Aries. With the sun also in Aries, there is a strong feeling of newness that can help us focus on generative and creative energy. With a new moon, we always look for new beginnings and renewals, and with Mercury essentially rebooting, it’s a good time to find new sources of energy.

Green tea is used as an alternative to coffee for a similar boost in the morning but with additional health benefits. It is an antioxidant, which is good for the health of our cells and immune system and reduces inflammation in the body. It is a stimulant, which provides energy, increases metabolism, and helps with cognition.

All of this is helpful for Aries energy in the skies. As a fire sign, Aries takes in a lot of input and expends a lot of output. Green tea is great for both increasing our ability to absorb outside information and supporting us as we process it. Use this reading to get at the heart of the matter at hand.

One amazing thing about plants and herbs is that even as stimulants they’re often simultaneously calming, so we are never overloaded with too much activity. Green tea has a relaxing effect, which is enhanced when used in a tea ceremony or ritual.

For instance, when making matcha tea, which uses ground green tea leaves rather than dried leaves, the preparation is crucially important. Tea ceremonies are a way to elevate the experience of ingesting tea in order to benefit from all the tea has to offer, including the emotional and spiritual aspects, so that the experience becomes meditative.

In order to harness the Aries fire today, you might want to spend some intentional time preparing a cup of green tea and letting it clarify your energy.
