2020 Vedic Horoscope: It's Time to Spread Your Wings

2020 is a year of power, impact, and effectiveness to actualize dharma. This year, many planets spend long periods of time in their own sidereal signs, which means that they’re also in their own house in our personal horoscopes. When a ruling planet occupies its own house, it is most effective for generating the things we want in that area of life. These energies are available to us for doing the right work in the world, having the courage to let go of that which no longer serves our highest good, following our true path, and experiencing joy.

JUPITER IN OWN SIGN OF SAGITTARIUS:

NOVEMBER 4, 2019–MARCH 29, 2020 & JUNE 30–NOVEMBER 20, 2020

Jupiter in Sagittarius calls upon us to aim higher and aim true in following our dharmic path in the world. In this sign, Jupiter inspires us to be optimistic, believe in possibilities, have faith in ourselves, and have faith in the abundance principle of the universe. The theme of this transit is becoming inspired to envision something that serves a higher purpose or calling in our life, believing it is possible, and paying attention to signs from the universe that guide us and the synchronicities that confirm we are on the right path. This is a powerful and potent time to expand horizons physically, mentally, and spirituality through travel, learning, and meditation.

SATURN IN OWN SIGN OF CAPRICORN:

JANUARY 24, 2020–APRIL 29, 2022

Saturn in Capricorn is about using time to our advantage, and being patient with the process and precise in our motions and decisions. The theme of this transit is becoming patient, waiting for opportune moments, and seizing them rather than wasting energy and efforts attempting to make something happen before its time. This is a potent time for learning to harness time to our advantage, formulating long-term goals, and slowly making our way toward them. It’s a time for laying foundations and building structures and frameworks that will sustain our efforts for a long time to come. Work smarter, not harder. JUPITER & SATURN TOGETHER IN CAPRICORN:

MARCH 29–JUNE 30, 2020 AND NOVEMBER 20, 2020–APRIL 5, 2021

Jupiter’s vision meets Saturn’s hard-working perseverance toward a goal. Jupiter’s optimism and luck help Saturn overcome any obstacles or limitations in manifesting our goals, while Saturn takes a bit of the wind out of Jupiter’s sails. It is a time when we feel both abundance and lack, along with a bit of “hurry up and wait” as we learn to balance these seemingly opposite planetary energies that have come together. The theme of this transit is having faith that everything will unfold perfectly on time and using our physical and intuitive senses to know when the time is right. Count each blessing along the way to progress. Saturn and Jupiter both station retrograde during the second week of May, providing us with the opportunity to revise our visions and goals as we check in to be sure that we’re being true to ourselves and prioritizing our responsibilities properly.

VENUS IN OWN SIGN OF TAURUS:

MARCH 28–JULY 31, 2020

Venus in Taurus is about taking time to experience the love and beauty in the world around us, to enjoy the pleasures of the senses, and to find creative inspiration through the arts and music. This period asks us to find inspiration in nature, to get out of our head and become an active participant in our own life, sustaining and nourishing the love and beauty that surrounds us here and now. Venus and Saturn are friends, and they have a half-strength aspect during this time. Like a muse, Venus will aid Saturn in his persistence toward goals. During this time, Venus is retrograde from May 13–June 25, 2020, asking each of us to find our inner muse, stop to smell the roses, and see what that can inspire.

MARS IN OWN SIGN OF ARIES:

AUGUST 16–NOVEMBER 4, 2020 & DECEMBER 24, 2020–FEBRUARY 21, 2021

Mars is retrograde this year from September 9–November 13. This planet stations retrograde in Aries but goes back into Pisces before entering Aries again. Mars in Aries is about cultivating autonomy, deciding and pursuing our own course of action. The key note of this transit is having the courage to follow our vision and pursue our goals. We may need to revise the way we go about this during the retrograde period. Jupiter will make a full aspect to Mars during this time, bringing spiritual aspirations to the mission and helping fulfill dharma with the right action. Saturn will make a three-quarter strength aspect to Mars, helping to foster patience and precision of action. Mars will make a one-quarter strength aspect to Saturn, adding extra strength of will to achieve goals.

RAHU EXALTED IN TAURUS AND KETU EXALTED IN SCORPIO:

SEPTEMBER 21, 2020–MARCH 15, 2022

Rahu and Ketu are the nodes of the moon. Ketu represents the past, and Rahu represents the future. Rahu is an externalizing material force that deals with acquisition, while Ketu is an internal spiritualizing force that deals with letting go. Both of these nodes represent the ebb and flow of our life path, and the illusions of maya in which we get caught up. The key to this transit is recognizing what is illusion or illusory and what is real, and that reality isn’t necessarily determined by what is tangible to the physical senses, but rather what is real at the eternal spiritual level. This period is excellent for letting go of that which no longer serves our highest good, making room for new doors that open to us, and transforming our trials into spiritual gold.
